\ verv successful e/imp was held at :r ihe Willows," Maheno. On Good Fridav the roll was called and the. various classes responded. An executive was formed for the South Island as follows: President, Mr J. A. "Valentine, 8.A.; Vice-Presidents, Mi' -I'. Ewart Wingfield and Mr Gormg; also an Oamaru executive to represent the other districts; Invercargill and Gore, Mr V. Jones; Dunedin, Mr R. Searle; Timaru and Ashburton, Mr G. Howe; Christchurch, Mr .H. - Jewell. Telegrams of a congratulatory character were received from' the Presbyterian camo (Timaru). Methodist camp (Dunedin), and North Island Baptists (Wanganui). " . Seven of the men spoke in competition from texts on Friday evening, and on Saturday evening impromptu speeches and an impromptu concert were indulged in. The winner of the onlv prize, a trout, turned out to be Mr"W. Palmer. Hockey, football, and swimming were the chief recreations. The cricket match on Saturday was won by the Oamaru and Caversham Classes, ,who scored 61 runs against the other classes' 47. On Sunday morning tho Maheno Presbyterian Church was attended, and in the afternoon Mr J. A. Valentine conducted a model Bible Class lesson, taking the parable of the prodigal son for the subject. This was dealt with in a most interesting way by the model class. The evening service was also conducted by Mr J. A. Valentine, and was followed by songs, solos, and testimonies. Mr Geo. Hercus, Presbyterian evangelist, also took part in the service. Throughout tho camp the - Star Orchestra of Oamaru rendered various items of music, which were much appreciated. At the farewell meeting held on Monday votes of thanks were passed to Mr J. R. Elder for use of grounds, etc., to Mr Valentine for presiding at meetings, to Mr S. Drummond for culinary fame, and his general assistant Mr Ed. Howe, also to Mr T. Hilliker (camp secretary). A fair number of friends visited the camp on Monday, and were entertained at dinner and afternoon tea. the whole group being photographed. Tents were then pulled down and packed, thus ending a most enjoyable outing, aided greatly by fine days and beautiful nights.
