Eighty per cent, of the workmen at Krupps' Germania yard, Kiel, struck for a hall-holiday as a protest against the Prussian Franchise Bill. .Many workers in other yards have joined them, and 10,00!) are out, who came into violent collision with the police. The hitter were hard pressed, and took refuge in shops, the windows of which were smashed. Ten demonstrators and several police were injured. RECOGNITION OF UNIONS. Received March 17, at 8.20 a.m. Halifax, March 16. ' A Bill has been introduced in the Nova Scotia Legislature for compulsory recognition of organised labor. FEDERAL ARBITRATION. , Received March 17, at 9.50 a.m. Melbourne, March 17. The Federal Arbitration Court commenced hearing the Engine-drivers' and Firemen's Association's case, which involves the whole conditions of employment on' land engines. HOTEL WORKERS' DISPUTE. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, March 16. • The proceedings before the Conciliation Council have failed to effect an ■ agreement in the hotel workers' dispute. The matter is therefore to go before the Arbitration Court.
