Ul building and plant were insured ill ilitl North British and Mercantile Insuring Company for about £!>0(i0, the exnet amount not being known. The secretary of the Company estimates the los( | at about £7500, of which the stock km approximately valued at £SOOO, Mill buildings and machinery at £2; >Oll. Forty men will be thrown out of employment. The origin of the fire is not known. When discovered by the malinger (Mr Geo. M'Andrcw) it had a linn hold. The Paeroa volunteer lire brigade rendered valuable service ill sayijl(! the houses in the vicinity of tlio mill.
