ARMOR PLATE INEFFECTIVE.

MODERN GUNS PIERCE VESSEL. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.] (Per Press Association.) Received November 3, at 5.25 a.m. Paris, November 2. Experiments upon the disabled French warship Jena showed that the guns beat the armor in every instance, and proved that no vessels are sufficiently protected against the latest types of projectiles. Also they showed that it was essential for the whole vessel to bo uniformly protected. French vessels are considered better protected than other nations. The Danton would float though dismasted, while the Dreadnought or German Nassau would sink like the Russian vessels did at Tsushima if hit on the watcrline.
