AUCKLAND TO THE BLUFF.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, March 24. Tlie accelerated express train services 8 a.m., takes 15 hours 5 minutes to reach Tnvercargill.- Under the new arrangement this is cut down to 13 hours 10 minutes, but by cutting out about a dozen stops on the northward journey the express will be ti in eel as follows at the more important towns: Tnvercargill depart 6.15 a.m., Gore 7.54, Clinton 8.30, Balclutha 9.52, Dunedin 11.15, Oamaru 2.38 p.m., Timaru 4.17, Temuka 4.38, Ashburton 5.53, Rakaia 6.25, Christchui'ch arrive 7.27. Going south the train will leave at 8 a.m. as at present, arrive Oamaru 12.47, Dune din 4 p.m. (instead of 5.8), and arrive at Invercargill at 9.30 p.m. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays the express from the south will be able to connect at Lyttelton with tho Maori for Wellington; but on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays the Mararoa, which fdls tho gap between the islands, will not be able to connect with the is'ortli Island express if its departure is delayed, so that the only connection will be that furnished by the 8 a.m. from Dunedin, catching the steamer at about 6.30 p.m. In the Xorth Island, under the present arrangement, there is some difficulty in making the connection with the 7.50 a.m. express for Xew Plymouth, and the Railway Department lias arranged that this train shall be put back to 8.15 a.m., thus giving ample time for the transfer of pas- I sengers and baggage. A few small stops have been eliminated from the time-table, and tlie express will reach New Plymouth at its usual time, 8 p.m.
