Miss Ada Ward, the actress evangelist, who has to fill an eight-months' engagement with the -Salvation Army,. intends to end her engagement and. resume the theatrical profession. She declares she is not tired of evangelist work, but thinks she can-do more good amongst the people she most desires to reach, the members of the profession, whom she never ceased to love. A tragedy has taken place at 3\orth Brighton. William' Holmes, his wife, and two children, aged respectively four years and! two months, were found dead in bed. Holmes' throat- was cut, and the others', heads were battered in. The-man had usecl a claw hammer to kill the family, and had then committed suicide. Holmes was unable to obtain work, and was despondent-. It is supposed he committed the crime in a 6udden fit of mania. Received March 23, at 0.40 a'.m. Sydney, March 23.
