There is some enquiry for milling wheat, and a fair amount is offering, but sellers are generally asking 4s 3d at country stations, and except, perhaps for pearl alone this price is about a penny above buyers' limits, and no business is therefore resulting. The same may be said about oats, for which there is a limited demand, but sellers' and buyers' ideas of values are al variance. JUNCTION YARDS. Messrs Bruce Christie and Co. held their usual weekly stock sale at the Junction Yards yesterday, when there was a good attendance, also a fair entry of stock. Cattle.—Beef: Prime steer beef 23s to 24s per lOOlbs, prime heifer beef 20s to 21s per lOOlbs, prime cow beef 18s per lOOlbs. Four and 5-year-old store bullocks are enquired for at £5 to £5 10s, 3-year-old-bullocks £4 10s to £4 15s, 2.5-year-old bullocks £3 10s to £3 15s, 2-year-old steers and heifers 30s to 40s, yearlings 20s to 255, calves 10s, store cows 25s to 355, bulls £3 to £4. Dairy cows and heifers have further receded in value, chiefly owing to the shortness of feed. Best cows (at calving) £5 to £5 ss. extra good young well-bred cows (at- calvingl £6 to £7. medium sorts of cows (at calving) d 33 10s to £4, best heifers (at calving) £4 10s to £5 2s 6d, medium sorts of -heifers £3 to £3 10s Pigs.—B7 were penned. Prices showed a drop as compared with former sales. Slips sold at 32s to 30s, best- weaners 25s 6d to 22s 6d, medium-sized weaners 21s 20s, small weaners 18s to 16s, prime bacon pigs from 120tbs> to 160 Ibs are in fair demand. Overweights are difficult to place.
