ENFIELD RAILWAY FACILITIES.
To the Kilit-T. —I t>v Saturtlav'.s Mail thai the oi Railways n«>t to ervi:t a :ir KiiticM <>u the grounds th.tt there is insuili' ieiit truth-", and that ha.- not been stacked on the hank on a< coant of any ecarcity of trucks, hut because it. '-vas a'.vaitiuc shipment. Whoever such information to the Minister is <on<ple;e!y in error, and I cm prove different. I have myself on manv occasions seen grain stacked waiting for trucks, and without tarpaulin covering's and Ivimr out all m:;ht in the rain. 1.a.-t summer I mysoli loaded a truck with empty case# for -Mr .John Diver and thev were* thrown out of the truck and left lyinii scattered about for nearly two weeks. Whoever says there is no scan ity i>f trucks knows very little, or cares very little, about the of I*.ntuld. I have t:c--n in Kntield for over 35 vears. and there has always been a scarcity of trucks. About 50 years aco. when I was in til. l employ ot the late Mr I-Mw.r.l Lets. I loaded" a truck that was sent to Mr William Meek. It there had been other trucks I would not have done so. On another occasion the late Mr Todd had to lie in a truck to keep possession of it till his drays arrived. There has always been a scarcity of trucks since the railway was first opened to Kntield. Years :r_o there were noods shells at X'zapara and Tokarahi. with nothing to send away but a few bales of wool once a year. I- even when land is cut up ail around I\n!icld we are not considered worthy of a shed. That is all the benefit we _'et from sending members to support the present Government. Wo do not semi men merely to draw their pav or to fall asleep, but to look after the interests of the district. What would a farmer say if he found his man asleep at the plonsrh': Rut lam sure our present member. Sir W. J. Steward, will not fall asleep :;t his i>o~*. but wi'.l always do what he can in the interns of the district. Let us have the old platform taken taken down, as it now takes a person with a strong muscle to pull himself into a carriage. I ask the residents of Enfield to stand up for their rights If anyone disputes what I say. I am quite prepared to prove it to be true —I am. etc. JAMES CARSOX
