Xo. 1 rink was selc ted for the game, presumably in otdcr to afford a good view for the spectators. From a playing point of view alme..; any rink on the green would have suitid better. A tricky wind was blowing, which to some extent militated against accuracy in drawing. Waimate scored a single at the lir.-t end. Taieri getting in two at th<- next end. A wick gave Waimate a shot in the third nid. whiih made the semes even. Taieri got in 2 at the sue. ceding- head, which put them in the lead. The fifth head was db-astrocs for Waimate. the Taieri 1.-nn scoring 4 shots and adding 3 more al the next end. At the .seventh end Waimale scored- a single, and the score stood : Taieri 11. Waimate 3. Taieri then got in 4 phots twice in succevMon. and at tinend of tin- tenth head Waimate lay 2. and added a single immediately a'fterwanls. At the fourteenth end Waimate bad raised their score to 10 -Taieri 20. In the next head- Taieri again lav 4. Shortly after Ooldstone plavcd a b, autifnl shot, which might hive been expected to give him a hatful, hut. as link would have it. there was one pii-i e of Taieri wood among the nisi of bowls, and it happened to be the scorer. At the eighteenth head Waimate were lying 3. to which Ooldstone added another with his first bowl, but, with his second he disturbed tilings, ami Waimate only scored 2 as a coiiseepicnce. At the conclusion of tin- twentieth head the score was: Taieri 26, Waimate 16: and the contest, bring hopeless, was abandoned. Taieri. I herefore. Avon the first prize ill the Kink Tour■lament.
