Sir, —A dangerous practice exists among the young men on the Papakaio .Plain of riding cycles without lights. -Occasionally some of them are mounted on motor bicycles, and they ride about at any hour of the night without lights. These- give no warning and arc- on the horseman or pedestrian iu an instant. Coining along from the Waitaki after a day's fishing one might be run into by one of these thoughtless riders. If they do not know any better than to endanger the safety of the public in this way, the law should teach them. Thanking you in anticipation for ventilating this matter. —I am, etc., SETTLER,
