Waitaki County Council.

A special meeting was hold this afternoon for tlio pui'iKwo of dealing with the motor by-laws which have Ix-en before the Council at several previous meetings. On iho motion of Messrs. liorrio and Nicolson, it was resolved that tin- Council nniko law tho draft by-laws submitted to them. Mr XicoJson moved, and Mr M'l'lieivvon seconded, that tho foregoing resolution bo submitted for continuation a« a special order at an ordinary meeting of tho CVimici! to bo held on 28th August next, at 12.30 p.m. This was put and carried unanimously. The Receiver of Land Revenue, Dinvcdin, -reported that tho amount of "thirds' and "fourths" of land revenue accruing to tho Council for the period from 25th February to Ist June. 1907, amounted to £6O 9s 10d.—Received. Tho District Road Kngmeer, Di lin, asl;e<l the Council's sanction to the proposed exchange of roads on Windsor J ark, in Ecction 7 aiid 8, anil requested that the neccssarv Mgnaturcs be obtained to tho "consent" tonus.—Kxchange approved of. The same writer stated that the road exchange at Otopopo on block 11., had not been completed, as Messrs A. l'atlorrsou and A. J. M'-Milkm had not signed the necessary documents in connection with same,--Received. The Commissioner of Crown Lands, Dun. edin, wrote with reference to tho, amount available for road works on Tot lira Kslalo, that the sum of £250 had been applied for, but the issue of authority for its expenditure had been delayed pending receipt, of plans showing Toads proposed to be formed.—Referred to Kngincer. The district agents for the. South Hrilish and Ocean Accident Insurance Companion wrote asking for the Council's risk, which falls due on the 26th instant.—lt was resolved that the accident Tisks of the county be left with the South ltritish Company. On Mr Wyiie's motion, it was resolved that a special meeting of ratepayers iuteiested be convened for Saturday, 10th August, to consider the proposal to close the road across to KaUanui Flat to Windermere, the meeting to take place al 12 o'clock at the Inchohne School. The Clerk of tho Maniototo County Council, Xascbv, wrote asking the Council for a cheijue 'for £l2 0s 2d, being the Council's share of tho expenses in connection with the licensing district of Mount Ida, -which includes a part of Waitaki County. It was pointed out that the total expenses in connection with thatlicensing district amounted to £44 17s 10d, and the revenue to £583 10s, of which the Council had. received £lss.—Received. -Mr A. J. Grave waited on the Council to ask that a resolution be passed stating that the Council did not consider it necessary that the Fort.ifljfcation (road, at lits junction witli the main road at Totara should be more than half-acliain wide. He explained that a client of his, firm had bought the property from Mro F. <lrani, and intended, sub-dividing it, and as, in case of subdivision, the Toad fronting the property must by statute bo a chain in width, he asked, that this resolution be passed.—lt was resolved that the necessary resolution ho passed, as requested. Messrs Lee. and Crave asked, on behalf of Mr Quaii, for payment of tho balance of the amount obtained from (he sale of an impounded horse at Ngnpara.—lt was resolved that tho amount be handed over as recpicsted. Mr John Kydd-, ponndkeeper, N'gapara, asked who was to pay cxih-ii«c« in connection with, impounding nndi selling animals, as their sale seldom realised- suJlicient to pay such expenses.—Received. John M'Kay, l'ukeuri, called attention to the flunung of the water-race pawing through his paddocks.—Referred, to tho Engineer, with power to act. Tho Chief Kngincer of Roads, Wellington, wrote that tlio Council's application for grants to cover the erection of a bridge across tho Ahuriri, and the construction of a road between llutlon's Bridge and the Middle Ford would be carefully considered when compiling the Ketimatos for tho current year.— Received. On IMt Livingstone's motion it was resolved that- tenders be called for gravelling the Victoria Road and Poet Oflioe- (iiilly Road. Tenders were dealt with as follows: Maintenance gravel on Upper Waitaki Road.—lJeft in the hands of the Chairman and tho Enginecx to deal with. Formation Tussocky Road.—Left to Mr Livingstone and the F/Ugineer. On Mr Macphcreon'e motion it was resolved to call for tenders for the Toad through Totara Settlement as soon as tho money is available.
