(Peb Pbess Association.) Received August 31, at 9.57 p.m. Sydne3', August 31. I There is a tremendous sea on the coast, and it is feared that the schooner Jones i Brothers has been lest on the oyster bank [at Newcastle with all hands. The vessel left last night coal laden, in tow of the stejmer Helen Xical. The signalman saw the steamer with the vessel in tow making back to port this morning. The vessel seemed to disappear, but the steamer made out to sea. Until the Helen Xico' arrives at Sydney uoiliing will be known as to whether siie rescued the crew. A search of the oyster bank discksed "iiTreckago and the masts of the schooner'sticking up. Received September 1, at 0.50 a.m. Sydney, August 31. The Helen Xicol reports tliat, the tow line broke. The steamer would have been in great danger in going on the oyster bank, and steamed to sea safely. There was therefore no doubt that all aboard the schooner perished. The crew were:—ol- - (master), Jenkins (mate), ATalley, Mason, Shield, and Petersen (crew). Received September 1, at 0.5 a.m. Sydney, August 51. Maniopoto, having disposed of Grand Rapids in a mile gallop in Imin 45£ sec, shortened to 5 to 1 for the Epsom Handicap, though as far as could be seen he is not befriended to any extent.
