LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. Leave of Absence. Leave of absence was granted to Mr Walker for the rest of the session, on account- of illness. Local Bills. The Taranaki SenolarSWips Bill No: 2 was_ put through all its stages. The Auckland Harbor Board and Devon - port Borough Council Empowering Bill, and Eltliam. Public Hall Bill, were reported _viu committee with amendments. The following Bills passed their final stages —Auckland Waterworks Loans Sinking Fund~and Borrowing Act Amendment Bill, Oamarii Athenasum and Meclianics' Institute Bill, Pctono Borough Empowering Bill, Auckland Harbor Board Empowering Bill, and Havclock Commonage Bill. The Council rose at 3.50 p.m. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. The House met at 2.30 p.m. Railway Superannuation Fund. Jit James Allen gave notice to ask tlie Minister for Railways whether ho will submit tho Railways Superannuation Fund to an actuary for report. Shops and Offices. In reply to Mr Aitken, Mr Seddon stated tliat the Shops and Offices Bill was nowbeing Thrived by the Crown Law Officers. Replies to Questions. In Teply to questions Ministers stated Tliat the State Fire Insurance' Offlcft obtained prior to January 4th, 1905, what was deemed sufficient reinsurance cover, but in view of the present position of affairs, no effort will be spared to secure further reinsurance cover when the opportunity arises.
