MAGISTRATE'S COURT

At the- Magistrate's Court this morning, before Major Kcddell, S.M., Robert S. Campbell and Donald Campbell were charced with behaving in a manner calculated to cause a breach of the peace. R. S. Campbell pleaded guilty, and D. Campbell. for whom Mr Let? appeared, not cniltv. Sergeant King prosecuted, and called as witness James Stephenson, who had seen the incident which had led up to the quarrel. Donald Campbell had essayed to turn a drunk man out of *-*-e porch of the hail, whereupon R. S. Campbell had interfered, using language to his nameeakfe which., in witness' opinion, justified the quarrel. R- S. Campbell followed D. Campbell outside and struck him. Interrogated bv Mr Lee, witness said that Donald Campbell*had used no unnecessary force in evictim: Goodall. Constable Cassidy had seen R.~ S. Campbell at Weston on the night in question when Campbell had threatened to cause a disturbance as soon as the constable left the place. The information acrainst Donald Campbell was dismissed, there being no evidence to prove his guilt, whereas R. S. Campbell was fined 2Ce, with 13s costs. . John Xicol, an old offender, for being drunk in a public place, now ficds it incumbent upon him. to serve three day's imprisonment. Walter Goodall, for being drunk and disorderlv at Weston, was fined £l, with 7s ccsts.
