LORD HAWKE'S TEAM v. MANUWATTT. By Telegraph. Palmerston North, January 8. The match between Lord Hawke's team and Manawatu representatives was continued to-dov in tempestuous weather. The Englishmen "declared their innincs of 307 closed and Manawatu batted. Goldingham and Harden faced the bowling of Thomson and Burnup, playing carefully. Four singles and a bye were scored in the first four over* and in the last ball of the fifth oyer of Burnup, Goldineham's bails were carried away bv a yorker. Tatterson followed and was'first to cet bevond a single, putting a ball to leg for three. Harden soon followed with a boundary hit. - Tattersall gave two chances, but thev were just missed, the first bv Johnston at point and the other bv Thompson in the slips. A change in the bowline was made, Dowson replacing Thompson. "After two singles bad been scored by careful play. Tattersall's middle stump "was taken by Burnup. 29—2—8. J Skellv succeeded, "and after a few runs had been added Harden was given out leg before. 37—3—15. Wright followed, but was run out after making one. 43— <\ —1. H SkelleV partnered hi; brother, who soon after cave a soft return to Burnup and retired. ° 46—5—1. Malcolm, trie nest man. scored two and was bowled, and Warden also had a short life. 60—7—5. Skelley put a ball into Bnrnup'g hands at mid-off, but it was not held. A. change of bowling was then tried, Thompson going on at Burmip's end.
