Wright, Stephenson, and Co. a preliminary objection was raised by ttie respondents that the appellant was stopped from proceeding in the appeal by iSSrving sold the property in dispute, and bad so precluded inmseU from carrying out the decison of the Court of Appeal. Mr W. C. M'Gregor appears for the appellant and Mr Husking for the respondents. DUNEDIN. March 18. Free tram rides are to be given to the citizens on Thursday to mark the taking over of the trams. As a further 'way of celebrating the taking over of the trams the Mayor also proposes that all traffic be entirely suspended next Sunday, so that all the employees may have a holiday. CHRISTCHURCH. March 18. An old ssttler named Detheric Dohrman was thrown from his dray at Carlton on Saturday and was killed almost instantaneously. AUCKLAND. March 18. Dr Mason, chief health officer, left for New Plymouth yesterday. Chief Justice Stout left for Wellington by the Xpapuhi yesterday. Captain Plunkett surveyor to the Underwriters* Association left for the south on Saturday. Cueksey represents the Amateur Athletic Cycling Club at Christchurch. W. Reynolds representing the Cycling Club.
