A pricking of the card so far as retnrns are to hand shows that, at latest advices, 47 members have been returned aa straight-out supporters of the Government, 17 as Oppositionists pure and simple, three as Left Wing, and one as Independent. The Lyttelton and Rangitikei seats have yet to be filled and the four Maori members elected. In the cases of Eden and Riccarton the totals are so close that the results may be altered on a re-count. Mr T. Y. DuncaD, who was suffering from a severe cold at his meeting on Monday night, had to go home early last evening, suffering from inflenza. [The Oamaru Prohibition Association return thanks to all who assisted at the poll yesterday, and congratulate them on the splendid vote cast for no-license. The quarterly meeting of the Waitaki Licensing Committee was held at the Courthouse, Waimate, on Tuesday. PresentMajor Keddell (Chairman), and Messrs, Hall, Morton, Milne, and Miller. Transfera of licenses were granted as follow :—From John Sullivan, Fairlie Hotel, to J. Fuchs; from H. P. Mannaton, Lake Pukaki Hotel, to John Cowley. This wa3 all the business, and the Committee rose. The number of votes cast in this electorate yesterday for no-license was 1983 and for continuance of licenses 1770. A member of the Prohibition Association, a week before the poll, made the following forecast:— votes for no-license, 1963, or 20 less than were actually polled, and for continuance of licenses, 1835, or 65 more than the votes cast for that issue. The position at the close of the poll was therefore very near to what he anticipated. Maila for Australia, Tasmania, Ceylon, India, China, Straits Settlements, South Africa, Mauritius, Europe, and United Kingdom will close at Bluff, per Mokoia, on Tuesday, 12th instant, at 2 p in. Mails for the United Kingdom and Europe, per gtar of England, will close at Wellington on Friday, Bth instant, at 3 p.m. Mails per Gothic will close at Wellington on Thursday, at 11 a. m.

At the Barnside stock sales yesterday the following local sales were effected : Stronach Bros, and Morris sold on account of Mr A. W. Gillies (Birtley Downs) one pen of good wethers (shorn) at 14s 6d, and one pen wellfinished shorn ewes at 14s. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. sold on account of Mr J. Befd (Elderslie), 44 very heavy Romney wethers (shorn) at 15s 6d, and 16 ditto ewes at 14s 3d. On account of Cr. Samuel Wilson (shorn) at from 13s to 14s 6d. Messrs Donald Reid and Co. sold for Mr E. Menlove (Windsor Park) 120 shorn ewes at 14s 9d to 14s 3d. Mrs Littlejohn, Ceylon Tea Warehouse and Refreshment Rooms Ceylon teas direct from the plantation, guaranteed pure. Sepa rate compartments for ladies, where a re freshing cup of tea coffee, or cocoa, with pie, grilled chops, and potatoes can be had at all hours, price 6d. Registry office or servants.
