THE SAMOAN QUESTION.

Germany has inquired what Great Britain's attitude Is with regard to the Samoan treaty. Great Britain is annoyed at the fighting, which adds to the complications. Mr Rose is blamed for not supporting Mr Chambers. Germany and America proposed to despatch commissioners on the 19th inst., but Great Britain was unable to telegraph instructions in the interval. Washington. April 13. Sir J. Pauncefote and Mr Holleben expressed concern at the fighting. Mr Hay believes the fighting will not affect the settlement of the trouble, and is withholding the despatch of reinforcements. Received April 14 s at 9.5 a.m. London, April 13. Germany will not appoint a Samoan High Commissioner until Great Britain has Indicated how she is satisfied with the treaty rights. The British Press displays a calm tone, bub a section of the American and German shows an inflammatory tendency with regard to the latest developments In Samoa. Received April 14, at 9.20 a.m. Sydney, April 14. Admiral Pearson, Interviewed with regard to Samoa, said that so far he had taken no further action than to despatch the Torch, which carried a large supply of ammunition. The difficulty had been want of unity of action on the part of the nations concerned, but the American forces had been perfectly co-operating with the British. It was a serious business but he could not say what course would be pursued from here. (by telegraph) Auckland, April 13. The Tutanekal left Awannl, in the north, for Auckland this morning.
