A Resurrection.
(BY TELEGRAPH.)
Auckland, November 4.
There Is tremendous excitement among the Tauranga natives owing to the reported resurrection of a Maori girl by Ehau. the King's Tohunga. Ehau came to Tauranga to prevent a Maori named Terere causing the deaths of other natives by makatu. On Monday the girl Marata died at Matapihl, and the body was taken to Rangawae. On Wednesday Ehau went to see Terere, who, it is stated, acknowledged that he caused the death of Marata. Ehau warned Terere and his wife that if they caused more deaths they would die themselves. Te "Shan then went to Rangawae, where a tangi was proceeding over the body of Marata, and told the mourners to cease crying, as Marata would be restored to them. He then placed his hand on the dead girl's forehead and, performing a karakia, told her to rise, which she did, to the utter astonishment of all present. The Maoris are frantic with joy and are showering presents on Ehau. _ The girl Marata is well to-day and abont. She says she has been to Te Rangi.
