It is reported that 14 members have signed a round robin promising to support Mr Philp, while 20 or 30 members have intimated a preference for him. A cable haß been received from Mr John Dillon stating that Ireland j >ins Queensland's sorrow at the death of Mr Byrnes. Kaig-'OKLIE, October 4. A man named Stirret was found dead ia the main Btreet with his head battered about*. It is believed that he was the victim of a fight, and was subsequently robbtd. Crime is on the increase here. Daring the last few weeks a number of persons have been robbed and left stunned and bleeding in the streets.
