(by "ejvsgraph.; Ashburton, October 2. A new racing club was formed on Saturday. The meeting was called by circular, 50 were present, and 90 gentlemen signified their intention of joining. The name was chosen of the Ashburton County Racing Club. Mr G. A. M. Buckley was elected president, and Mr John Studholme, junior, vice-president, and a strong stewards' list and committee. A resolution was passed to admit anj? members of the Tinwald or Ashburton Racing Clubs without ballot, the name of the club and members to be submitted to the Chairman of the Racing Conference. The club was formed in order to comply with the Colonial Secretary's decision that: totalisator permits be only to s» strong, united, and representative club in the Ashburton district, failing the amalgamation of the Ashburton and Tinwald clubs, The amalgamation having fallen through, steps were taker, to form a now club.
