(8v Electric Telegraph—Copviigh ) {PSB UNITED PKBSH ASSOOIAS'JO*.) Received September 26, at 10 p.m. Sydney, September 26. Sailed—Mariposa, from San Francisco, via Auckland. Captain Savage and Mate Fawkett, of the steamer Cintra, were found not guilty of manslaughter arising out of the CintraKoruha collision. Ex-policeman M'Coy, at Mudgee, murdered his wife and infant child with an axe. He dashed the brains of both over the floor, and also threatened one of his boys. The couple frequently quarrelled. The murderer alleges that his wife threw hot water over him, and was an unnecessarily jealouß wife. Received September 27, at 1 a.m. Sydney, September 26. Mr Barton was accorded a reception on his return to Sydney. A procession was formed in the main street. He expressed his intention of ousting the Government at the earliest opportunity. He accused the Minister of Public Woiks of wholesale bribery in connection with the election. The steamer Express, while leaving the port for Napier, collided with a ferry boat and damaged her stern. She has returned for repairs.
