Oamabtj Mail Office, Monday afternoon.
There has been very little business daring the weak, dealers hanging off the market until the new crop is fairly on the market, which will probably be about the end of the week, as threshing has commenced in several districts. The crop promises to be very short, but of good quality, and prices will probably be firm. Old wheat remains firm, holders not being willing to sell at prices offered. Oats are also very firm. Other things unaltered.
We quote: Wheat—Tuscan and velvet, 4s 3d to 4s 43 ; red straw, 4a 2d to 4s 3d ; good whole fowls', 3s 7d to 3a 9d (at sidings.) Oats—Prime short oats, 2s Id to 2s 2d ; Danish, 2s to 2s Id; Duns, 2s 2d to 2s 3d; Tartars, 2s to 2s Id (delivered at store, sacks extra). Barley—Prime malting, 3a 6d to 4s; good feed, 2s to 23 6d. Flour—Roller, Lll 10s; Stone, LI less. Dairy Produce—Butter, prime factory, lid; dairy, 6d. Eggs, 6d.
