The last four races were run in a heavy downpour of rain. Hopscotch received an ovation after beating Newhaven, whose want of form was adversely criticised. Detailed results : second hurdles. Irish Stew 1 Jack Han well ... ... ... 2 His Grace..., ... .- ... 3 Eight started. Betting : 4to 1 Merrlgal, iEolus, and Irish, 5 to 1 Jack Hanwell. Won by a length in 3min 17£ sec. atl-aged stakes. Hopscotch 1 True Blue 2 Metford 3 Also started —Newhaven and Mahee. Betting : 2 to 1 on Newhaven, 2 to 1 against Hopscotch. Newhaven dwelt ab the post, and Hopscotch going to the front from the start, won by four lengths, the same distance between the others. Newhaven apparently never made an effort. Time, lmin 43£ sec. WELTER HANDICAP. Englo 1 Ellugerah... 2 Sabretache ... ... 3 Fifteen started. Won by half a length in lmin 46£ sec. EASTER STAKES. Aurum 1 Amberite 2 Hypnotist 3 El Norte also started. Betting : 2to 1 on Aurum, 5 to 1 against Hypnotist and Amberite. Aurum made hacks of the field, and won by four lengths in lmin 38|sec. CUMBERLAND STAKES. Battalion ... ... ••• ••• J True Blue »•" ~ .> Coil 3 Hopscotch also ran. Betting: Even money on Coil, 3 to 1 Hopscotch, 5 to 1 the others. Battalion and Coil came with a rush at the finish. Coil bumped off, and Battalion won by five lengths. Time, 3min 43|sec. CITY HANDICAP. Gozorina •••• *«• 1 Old Clo '* .2 ; Kallatina .-.3 Eleven started. Won by a length and a half in 2min 43sec.
