Salvation Army.
A correspondent writes : —Commandant H. Booth has been pleased to note the ability, and success which havß followed Major Bruntnell's labor, as chief secretary to the colony of New Zealand for the past 2b years, by conferring upon him a double promotion, both in rank and position—in rank as Brigadier; in position, colony leader of Victoria, one of the greatest responsibilities in Australasia. The Brigadier is a converted publican's son, a happy Welshman, and his life story which he gives is both amusing and full of interest. Also Major Knight will be with him, who has been in charge of the Eastern division of some 32 corps. He also has received marks of honor, both in rank and position, in rank from StaffCaptain to Major, in position to chief and pioneer secretary to Commandant Booth, to our newly instituted mission field among the cannibals or man eaters. And as a people, and army, We are highly proud of our worthy comrades, and esteem it a great honor for the Salvation Army of New Zealand to send such able representatives to such important positions. They will appear in the Army Barracks on Friday night, as per advertisement, to detail' their commission, and will speak upon the social, and spiritual aspect of the Salvation Army;-also of the new government it Is now undergoing in Austra--1 asla.
