SPORTING CABLEGRAMS.
(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) AUSTRALIAN RACING. (pEil UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Received April 20, at 9.50 p.m. Sydney, April 20. At the annual yearling sales at Randwick to-day the bidding was slow and prices were only fair. Payten gave 200gs for a Splendor—Equation colt; Cousins 120gs for a Splendor—Chorus filly; Allsop 105gs for a Splendor— Camelia colt. In connection with Newhaven's proposed visit to England doubts are expressed as to securing his recognition in the English stud book. Previous efforts made by Mr Jones in this directiqja failed for want of proof that Newhaven's ancestor Dinah was thoioughbred. With a view to overcome the difficulty Mr Clibborn, who will shortly visit England, will ask the compilers of the stud book to recognise the principle that all Australian horses whose pedigree is traceable back 40 years be eligible for inclusion. In anticipation of his departure the Randwick horse trainers presented Mr Clibborn with an illuminated address and an expression of high esteem.
