WHY?
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Are the ducks not strong enough on the wing ? That seems to be the question asked by every sportsman, since the notice in your paper, informing the public that the season would not be open until loth inst.
Surely this has been a perfect season for young birds ! and from what I can learn from different parts of the district birds of all sorts are very forward. What then can bo the object in delaying the opening day 1 Many peoplo have made arrangements to get away for the Ist, and without good reason can be shown why should they not keep up the time-honored custom of meeting on that daj. I think they should be allowed to do so. It cannot be pleaded that game are backward this season.—l am, etc., Spobt.
