At the Exhibition this afternoon the quick marching contest by the brass * bands took place in the presence of 3000 people. The points for music and drill, respectively, were as follows : Wellington Garrison, 23, 577 ; total 600. Canterbury Engineers, 22, 567; total 589. Stanmore, Christchurch, 21, 558 ; total 579. Woodville, 18, 546 j . total 564. Nelson, S}o, 526 ; total 546. The following awards are announced in connection with the solo contests i E-flat Hoins—Nicholson, Wellington B-flat Cornet—Perry, Stanmore i E-flat Cornet—S. Cimino, jun., Wellingto» ; E-flat Basses—Ablett, Chrktchuroh B-flat Basses—Smith, Wellington Trombones—Moore, Stanmore Euphoniums—Boyd, Duncdin Baritones—Flint, Dunedin
