At Cromwell Mine, 80 tons crushed yielded 80ozs Gdwts. ; After clearing up on Saturday rain fell in torrents on Saturday night and' tills morning. Although a good deal of water is on the low lying sections in South Dunediu and St. Kilda, no damage appears to have beeu done. AUCKLAND October 31. The steamer Alameda, for San Francisco, Bailed this afternoon. Among the passengers for Europe was Professor Thomas, of the Auckland University. The premises of F. J. Bennett, draper, Queen street, were entered last night. The door was forced with a crowbar, and some wearing apparel stolen, but no cash got. Flour haa been raised 10s per ton to the rate prevailing in the south.
