(BY TELEGRAPH.) (eeoji our OWNCOBEESPONDENT.) . Wellington, September 22. Mr Atack, Manager of the Press Association, was re-exam*"ned before the Copyright Telegrams Committee to-day. This closes the evidence, which, the Committee proposes to_ take. The sub-com-mittee have prepared a report which will to-morrow be submitted for approval of or amendment by the. Committee. .The inquiry has dealt fully with the question of the revenue derived by the colony from Press telegrams, and I hear that in this respect some startling facts will come out in the Committee's report. With a view of making the Uriwera Country a future game preserve for the whole colony efforts are being made to procure the Government's assistance to stock the lakes and rivers of that, district with trout and to liberate English wild duck and red and fallow deer. The Agricultural and Stock Committee has decided that it would be unwise to go on with the Noxious Weeds Bill this session. The same Committee has agreed to the Orchard and Garden Pests Bill, but only so far as it deals with the extinction of phylloxera. The report of the Council Banking Committee extends to 337 pages, of which 301 pages is devoted to the report of evidence and exhibits. The remainder is the report proper, and minutes of the proceedings. Mr M'Nab is impressing on the Government the necessity of providing a table to be attached,to the next volume of Statutes of the colony showing the effect of the legislation of former sessions. Mr La wry wants the Minister of Agriculture to cause an investigation to be made into the virulent and fatal disease which is attacking rabbits in Queensland, with a view to introducing it into this colony. The Minister of Agriculture is being asked by Mr Joyce to consider the advisibity of appointing a specialist to deliver lectures on the subject of poultry laising. Replying to Sir G. Whitmore to-day, the Minister of Education said that the report of Colonel Fox on the forces of the colony would be available in a few days.
