At the Acclimatisation Society meetipg the ranger reported that a number of young Scotch burn trout had been .attacked by fungus growth on the gills, which had caused great mortality. He had diverted the water from coming through the trout feed, and there was an improvement in their condition. Twentyfive thousand brown trout had been sent to Geelong, Victoria. A telegram has been received from London by Messrs W. H. Middleton and Co., announcing the sale of the Golden Band mining property at Deep Stream. The capital is L 160,000, with a paid-up capital of L 40,000. The workings are within 30 miles of Dunedin on the Museum Endowment, alongside the Otago Central Railway. A meoting of the Roman Catholic clergy and laity to make preliminary arrangements in connection with the.consecration of Dr Lenihan as Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, decided to present an addresß to the Bishop and make a presentation, also to give a public reception and entertain the visiting Bishops, a fund being raised for the purpose. A resolution was passed expressing great thanks for the honor done to Auckland by the Holy See in confirming the selection of Dr Lanihan to be Bishop of Auckland.
