THE EGYPTIAN SITUATION.
[By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] (per united press association. ) Received September 22, at 1 a.m. Cairo, September 21. As the Anglo-Egyptian force advanced from Kerman the Dervishes retired towards Dongola. Bishara, their leader, was severely wounded. The gunboats occupied Dongola unopposed, seized the grain shores, Treasury, and 15 grain-laden boats. The Haffir country provides a plentiful supply of fodder. The natives on both sides of the IN ilo extended a welcome to the expeditionary forces, and it is believed that the power of the Dervishes is broken. The Dervishes who fought at Kerman numbered 4000 picked men. They abandoned Haffir, believing that the Egyptians were marching on Dongola along the banks parallel with the gunboats. Cholera, which has been prevalent along the line, is now subsiding.
