The crew experienced the greatest difficulty in escaping from the vessel after she struck. The aea made a clean breach over her and several of the crew were washed overboard, but managed to regain the vessel. The ship Olenfinlas and the tug Phtebehave reached Newcastle safely. ftlJxaocßjnr. December 24. Efforts* are being made to ascertain howmuch, if any. deterioration has taken ptace in the chilled butter reported on by the Agent-General. The analysts agreed that only very slight changes had occurred. One expert certified to decreased rohtfle acids to. the extent of 021 per cent, while another found the decrease I*7. Further teats are to be made during the next three months. The Argus regrets the difference be- ! tween the director* and auditors of the ! L. and M.A. Co., and thinks it a pity that the dispute was not amicably settled. The alternative put forward at the meeting was hardly a proper one fur the result might easily be foreseen, viz., that the directors would bo retained and the auditors dismissed.
