While arresting a Manilla man for attempting to murder his wife, Constable Conroy received fatal injuries, being stabbed eight times. He, however, succeeded in holding the murderer until the latter was secured. Melbourne, July 3. Abraham Bros were found guilty on the charge of conspiracy in connection with the sale of guns, etc. Three of the accused fainted before the jury returned their verdict, and sentence was deferred. Adelaide, July 3. A Postal Conference is sitting here at which New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia are represented.' The Conference is discussing the details of the ocean mail contract adopted by the Hobart Conference. Sydney, July 3. Sailed — Mararoa and Tasmania, for Auckland.
