Mr Thompson at Marsden.

(by telegraph.; Auckland, June 7. Mr Thompson, M.H.R, addressed the Whangarei electors at Marsden last night. Mr Thompson dealt with the legislation of the past session fully. He thought indications pointed to a public works borrowing policy. He hoped not, but if so he must insist on getting a share for the north. He denounced in strong terms the Native Land Act, and said it was a disgrace to the Statute Boob. It was stopping settlement in the north, pauperising the natives, and ruining their credit. A crying injustice had been done to the north by its passing. He would use every effort for its repeal, and he thought the natives #puld be justified in using every constitutional means to that end. He did not think, the Minister for Labor's views of the labor question would be a credit to the colony. He considered the charge of spoils to the victors made against the Government was unfair and not justified. He spoke with regard to the indisposition of the Minister for Lands, who, he considered, was doing his best. A vote of thanks and confidence was passed.
