Our Volunteers.

Tho monthly inspection parade of the \ocul volunteers was held last evening at tfia drill hatl T andar Lieat.-Colonel Sumpter. when the parade state was : Staff: Lieut.-Colonel Sampter. Major Headland* and Staff Sergt.-Major M'f'horson; Owtison Band: Bandmaster King and I!) bandsmen ; Nav;.ls : Lient.Commanding Mahan* and 37 seamen ; t Battery: Lieutenants Brown and Forrester, and 27 gunners. After a short march out both companies were exercised in physical drill and bayonet exjrcise by Surgfi.-Major M'Pherson* after which the Colonel presented tons? service badges to several members of both companies and BXpceoHed himself highly pleased with the atata of the arms and accoutrements. After parade the Navals held'* meeting for election of subalterns* when Mr W. H. A. Craddodc was unanimously elected lieutenant, vice Mr Swinard (resigned), and Mr W\ Cooper was re-elected sub lieutenant, The captain informed the company that the committee had porchuaed a number of handsome and useful trophies (which were on view) to be competed for daring the winter evenings, and hoped that then© competitions would be the means of enabling the Navals to give a. good account of themselves daring tho next shooting season. In conclusion. l)o congratulated the company on the addition of Mr Ctaddock to their list of officers, ;vs he felt sure he would be a source of strength to the company.
