.» DUNEDIN MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company,- Limited, report for the week ended April :10th as follows: Fat Cattle.-t.200. head were yarded. Bidding was fairly active for best quality, but ordinary was. more difficult to place, with prices iti, favor of, buyers. Best bullocks L 7 17s 6d; light weights, L 4 5s to L 5 17s 6d; best cows, L 5 1.7s "6d to L 6 17s 6d; medium, L 4 2s 6d to X.5 12s 6d; light and aged, L2 10s to L3l7s 6d. If at Sheep.—lßß3 were penned. A very fair demand was experienced for good wethers fit for export, prices for such ranging on a par with those, of. recent sales. Ewes were, as of late, dull of sale, and difficult to place except at unsatisfactory prices'. Best crossbred 1 wethers brought 9s 6d to 10s 2d; one extra heavy, 12a 3d; good to best, 8s to 9s 3d ; light, 6s 3d to 7s 9d ; best do ewes, 6s 9d to 8s 6d; extra heavy, 8s 9d to 9s ; light and aged, 4s to 6s; merino wethers, 5s to 5s 9. Pgs—l42 w re penned, comprising all sorts, for which there was only a moderate demand, prices all round being in buyers 1 favor. • Suckers brought 3s 3d to 7s ; slips, 10s 6d to 13s; store 15s to 17s 6d ; porkers, 21s to 245; baconers, 2Ss to 365; extra heavy, 38s to 48s. Wheat.—This market remains steady ; no change of any consequence to be recorded. A moderately fair demand exists, and all offering, no matter of what description, is readily placed ; the business done, however, does not amount to very much, being .chiefly confined to local requirements. - Deliveries from the south into store bo far would not be sufficient to meet the exigencies of the trade, but with the full supplies held in the north buyers have no difficulty.in procuring all they require in the meantime at all events, and most likely will be able to do so during the next few months. Quotations. For prime milling velvet and Tuscan, 2s 9d to ,2s 9Jd— extra prime a shade more; good to;best/2s B|d to 2s 9d; good to best red wheat, 2s 8d to 2s B£d, medium milling and good whole fowls' Wheats 2s 7d to 2s 8d; broken and inferior to medium, 2s 3d to 2s 6d (ex store, sacks weighed in, terms). Oats.—Owing to a considerable number of growers preferring to store for a ti ma rather than quit at the unremunerative prices lately.obtaining, the market may be characterised as somewhat more steady and it is almost evident that bottom has been reached.; A;very 1 fair demand exists for both milling and-feed sorts. At the same time buyers , cannot be persuaded to purchase at. our late iquotations,' which, however, are readily secured for all: on the market. There is in evidence a desire on the part of speculators to operate at present rates. Quotations for this week are : < For prime milling,' Is 3d to Is 3id ; best bright short stout feed, Is 2Jd to is 3d ; medium to good, Is Id to Is 2d ; inferior, 9d to Is j long Tartarian, Is 3Jd'to Is 5d (ex store, sacks extra, net). Barley.—Transactions in this cereal are few and far between. Occasional lots of really prime malting, bright, full, and mellow, are being placed ; but there is no demand for medium or off color, of which quality the bulk is comprised Quotations : For prime malting, 2s 9d to 3s—extra do a shade more ; medium, nominally 2s-3d to 2s 6d ; feed and milling, Is 6d to 2s (ex store, sacks extra, net.) Grass Seeds.—The market for all sorts, is somewhat quiet. Quotations: For best dressed perennial ryegrass seed, 3s 9d to 4s; medium to good, 3s 3d to 3s 6d; (ex store, sacks extra, net). Cocksfoot. Slow sale. Best dressed, 4d to 4^d; medium, 3d to. 4d per lb. Potatoes.—The supply being in excess of requirements last week's quotations have not been maintained, best Derwents now fetching only.L2 5s to.L2 10s ;. medium, LI ]ss to L2 2s 6d per ton (ex . store, sacks w eighed in. net). Chaff.—Consignments have come to hand pretty fteely during the past week, but, with a fair demand, existing prices remain unchanged, best fetching L2 5s to L2 7s 6d ; medium, LI 17s 6d to L2 2s 6d; inferior, LI 10s to LI 15s per ton r (ex truck, sacks extra or returned, net).
