Colonel North exempts the shares reserved for the discoverers of the Londonderry mine from the benefit of his offer. The Board of Directors has resolved to request the Western Austrahan Government to appoint an expert to report on the Company's properties. Mr T. Hewitt JJyring will follow Colonel North's example. The Unionist Press considers the Local Veto Bill a ridiculous measure, and condemns the exemption of Ireland as a bribe to secure the votes of the Irish members. Mr Russell intends to move the inclusion of Ireland. The Bill was read a first time without a division. Lord Hersch ell's Land Transfer Bill bas passed its third reading in the House of Lords. Lord Herschell declares that the land registration system had worked admirably in the colonies. Shares in the Royal Oak Gold Mining Company, Hauraki, have been allotted. Calcutta, April 9. Umra Khan has withdrawn a portion of his forces from Chitral in order to resist the advance of the British through Swat, and it is believed that Mr Robertson may now succeed in forcing a passage to Mascuj. Received April 10, at 2.30 p.m. London, Ajril 9. A Victorian February shipment of wheat sold at 22s 6d. There is heavy speculation in silver, which is now quoted at 2s 6id. The "bullocks ex Buteshire average about 8701bs. Mr Bergyl is electing a special chamber at Smithfield, where he will use his own process of thawing. At the Antwerp wool sales, open on the 20th, 9000 bales will be offered, of which 120 are Australian. Holders of 4* per cent debentures in the Real Estate" Mortgage Bank have resolved to use the accrued profits to pay the coupons of 1894, and one per cent on the April, 1895, coupons. They have also appointed a committee to confer with the trustees regarding the proposals of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company.
