Waiareka Valley Excursion.
(FROM OCR OVW CORRESPONDENT.) Yesterday will long be remembered by the people belonging to the combined schools of Ngapara, Windsor, Enfield, and Weston. A railway trip was looked forj ward to with interest by both old and young, and yesterday was the day fixed upon. A finer day could not have been chosen, and, naturally enough, about 450 a\*aiied themselves of the opportunity for such an outing. The spot chosen by the managing committee was Hampden, and a nicer place for the purpose could hardly be found. The beach on the one side and the bush on the other made it all that one could well desire. The good people of the town were very ready to assist by lending boilers and billies, where necessary. The young people scattered in all directions, some to the bush and others to the beach, determined to extract from the occasion all the happines it was capable of imparting. A start was made for home at 4.30. It is worthy of mention that many of the children who are inlanders marvelled when they found themselves walled in by the Otepopo tunnel, as they had not before experienced such a sensation—a number of them literally screamed with delight. The railway officers played their part with becoming courtesy and care.
