Political Gossip.

(by telegraph.)

(fkom OUlt own correspondent.) Wellington, September 11. The Premier this afternoon presented a petition from the holders of 23,800 shares in the Equitable Assurance Association praying for an inquiry into the management of that institution.

In Committee on the Government Railways Bill Mr J. W. Kelly will move an amendment providing that every railway employee shall be entitled to one week's leave in each year, instead of three days as at present, and shall have the right to claim the week all at once and not merely one day at a time, as is now the rule.
