The Estimates.
(BY TELEGRAPH.) (FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, July 1. T' The vote under the Rabbit Nuisance Act was reduced from LT.500 to LG,OOO. The amount of L 1.500 for the importation of stoats and weasels is struck out of the vote for the Department of Agriculture. The sum of L 1,540 is devoted to the rabbit pest for Canterbury and the Kaikonra district, and L 7,150 for the same purpose in the Otago district. The general vote for subsidies for the destruction of rabbits and erection of rabbit-proof fences is reduced from L 4.000 to L 3,500. An indication that the Government expect to pass the Payment of Members Bill this session is afforded by the fact that the vote for allowances for members of both Houses is increased from L 5,550 to L 12,500. A sum of LISOO is on the estimates for the Mount Ida water-race alterations. The Otago estimates include the following: Supreme Court (Dunedin), one clerk, increased, LlO ; Official Assignee's office (Dunedin), increased. L2O ; District, Resident Magistrate's, and VI arden's Court, reduced, L3O; conveyance of inland mails, reduced, L 105; Customs, increased, L 138; Stamp Department, L 75; Land and Deeds Registry, increased, L2O ; Burnham Industrial School, increased. L 35 ; Seaclifl Asylum, increased, L 13 7; Lands and Survey, increased, L 125.
