(BY TELEGRAPH.) (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON. June 30. The Terranora landed the cable to-day, and both ends were spliced by dark. The line is now being worked again. The Consul-Men oral for Portugal at having requested the Government to forward liim, information respecting the supplies of sheclite available in New Zealand, a report has been obtained from Professor Ulrich, of Otago University, who is interested in a scheelite mine at Lake Wakatipu. With regard to dummyism in Wairarapa, the Land Board decided to cancel the interest of Maurice Samuel and Walter Hatton in their sections in the Puketoi block, ancl forfeit all money paid by them in respect of tbem. The Land Board came to the decision on the ground that the holders had not fulfilled the conditions of the Act, and that the land had not been taken up for their own exclusive use and benefit. The Board was of opinion, after taking all the circumstances into consideration, that greater loss would be entailed upon the licensee and lessee by the forfeiture of the. whole of tho improvements at this period of their occupation than was contemplated under tho Land Act Amendment Act of 1880, under which the land was applied for. The Board, therefore, recommended the Minister of Lands that when the land was again put up for sale, a fair value should be put on the improvements, and the amounts thus realised be returned to the licensee and lessee, less all costs incurred by the department in connection with the inquiry and recovery of possession of the land. Mr Samuel Venn ell, of Wairarapa, an early and respected settler, died to-clay, aged 72. DUNEDIN. June 30. The Dunedin Poultry Society's annual show was held to-day, and was well attended.
