The Christchurch Museum.
(by telegraph.) Christchurch, September 28. At a meeting of the Governors of Canterbury College to-day, the Museum Committee presented a report on the curatorship of the institution, showing that Mr H. O. Forbes, the curator, considered his salary disproportionate to those of his colleagues in the college, and that his position was inferior to what he had been led to expect. He requested the Board to hold an inquiry into his management in consequence of statements made at a meeting of the Board. The Committee stated that no charge of incompetence had been made by either the Board or Committee. They pointed out that Mr Forbes' salary and position were both in accordance with the agreement entered into by him in London ; they therefore considered his grievance imaginary. The Board by 13 to~s adopted the report. The minority contended that there should be an inquiry into the management of the museum, as charges had been made by individual members of the Board, if not by the Board as a whole. Mr Spackman gave notice of motion that the Board consider the desirableness of making an inquiry into the conduct and management of the museum.
