Presbytery Meeting.

A meeting of the Presbytery was held this morning, there being present the Rev. Dr Macgregor (Moderator, in the chair), Revs. A. B. Todd, J. Clark, J. Steven, J. A. Will, P. S. Hay, W. Nichol, and W. Wright, ministers; Mr Robertson, elder. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Clark reported that Mr Macdonald had supplied Macraes for six weeks and Mr Smith a month, and also that matters generally were much in the same state. The collections for last yea. in the district were LBS 15s 6Jd. It was reported that collections had been made for church extension. The next collection (June) will be for the passage money of ministers, where it has not already been taken up. The remit of Synod concerning the admission of ministers was considered, and the following motion was carried : "That in future ministers from denominations other than Presbyterian applying to be received as ministers of this church shall not be open for employment until they have been received by the Synod." The remit of Synod concerning regulation for students entering the Hall, was laid before the Presbytery, and it was resolved to take the matter up at the next meeting of the Presbytery, to be held at Papakaio on the 16th day of September next. Conversation took place regarding the advisability of inviting the Rev. J. M.'Neil to hold evangelistic services in North Otago. The matter was left to Dr Macgregor and Mr Todd to communicate with the Committee of the Victorian Church on the subject. The Standing Orders of Synod were sent down for the consideration of the Presbytery. It was agreed to discuss them at next meeting.
