At a meeting of the unemployed held on the Cricket Ground this morning, the following resolutions were passed : —(1) We, the working men of Oamaru out of employment, fearing that, through the interference of local officialism, we are to be ti'eated to adose of the former unemployed rules, are unanimous in resolving not to leave our homes until we are assured that we are to get the same price for our work as the men in other centres of population similarly situated are getting, viz., Government schedule prices for contracts. A traction engine owned by Messrs Ross and Campbell, and driven by J. fell through the Waihao Bridge, neai' the I 1 orks Hotel, on Saturday last. An investigation of the bridge shows that the main planks were very rotten, and it is a wonder they did not go through before. The hind part of the engine is about two feet below the level of the bridge, and the front part a few feet up in the air. As the engine is at present, traffic is completely stopped and efforts were being made yesterday to get the engine out. .
