FORBES M'KENZIE ACT.

TO THE EDITOII. Sin, —Prior to this Act coining into force in Scotland, the public houses kept open all night. But this Act confined the hours from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., which was a greater step in curbing the drinking customs than all the tinkering of all tho licensing Acts since. Could you, or any of your many readers, inform me what year this Act came into force ? I assert that it was in the year 1856, but another differs from me. Such questions at the present have an Interest.
