At the annual meeting of the Sblpownsra' Society, a general opinion was expressed that a further contest between the dock laborers and owners was Inevitable, and it m believed that the owners will take united action and close their docks. The Marine Officers' Association has declined to accept tbo conditions sought to be Imposed opon tbem by the shipowner*, that they should not affiliate with any labor organisation. At the conference* to day between ibe Seamen's Union and the Sseamownera, the business transacted was ooty_ of a preliminary character, and an adjournment was made until Thursday. The owners will consider the proposals of the Officers' Association to-morrow. AJelbocrse, July 22. The Shipowners have announced their Intention not to grant any further coocesaiona except In the case of officers, and have signed a bond to provide for the defence fond. The seamen are deter. mined to enforce their demands, and propose cabling to Eagland for a steamer if owners insist in this refusal.
