Daily Circulation, 1500. The Oamaru Mail THURSDAY, JULY 17, 1890.

Messes Obmond and Hah exhibited not a little soreness because, daring the discussion on the constitution of the Committee to investigate the ohargeß brought by Mr Hutchison re the Ministry and the Bank of New Zealand, they were spoken of by the Opposition as prejudiced in favor of the Government, and because it waa stated that the Government were attempting to pack the Committee so as to ensure, if possible, a favorable verdict for themselves. Bat this 1b only another instanoa

of the inability of men to aea themselves u others aee them, The Opposition did not oommenoe the undignified squabble and vasts of time. It was the Government who did that when they plaoed a majority of their supporters on a tribunal that shonld haye (been as nentral bb a Judge of the Sopreme Court. The Government party have no right to expect to have confidence reposed in them that they wonld not repose In their opponents. If they olalm that Ministerialists are dispassionate and fairminded, notwithstanding that they are partisans in politics, they should credit with the same virtues thoße opposed to them in politics. They could not have done this, or they would not have so systematically stuffed the investigation Committee with a preponderance of their staunchest friends with a view to ensure a restriction of the investigation, or a favorable verdiot, whatever the disclosures might be.
