The person jumped over the racecourse fence crossed the road, and jumped over a gate on the other side, aod disappeared from sight. May 21.

Too Government have acceded to tho rcqaeat made by Mr Samael, who is _defending tho Maori charged with the New Plymouth murder, that he should be allowed tbe services of ao interpreter, so that he may converse freely with tho prisoner. May 21.

The Government have declined to provide counsel for tho accused at the Inquest at Now Plymouth, but, in the event of tbe prisoner being committed for trial, tbe Government would then engage coacael.
