PIGEON SHOOTING MATCH.
(BY TKI.EGKAPH.) Dunedin, Deoembor 3. The Exhibition pigeon shooting haridl* cap, arranged by the Dunedin Gun Olub, came off on the Oarisbrook ground this afternoon, and attraoted numerous entries from both Islands, but the attendanoa of the publio was disappointing. Of the 43 nominations there was only one absentee. The conditions \rere nine birds, two nominations allowed. The weather was perfect, there being barely a breath of wind, and the light good. Mr E. W. Riper was referee. The arrangements were moat complete. At the end of the seventh rormd the competition was apparently confined to Messrs Whittle, H. Redwood, W. Mason and Djbble, all of whom had not let a bird escape. In the second nomination Mr Redwood had already missed threo birds. In the next round Whittle loßt a bird, Redwood killed, but Mason missed a strong bird. Dobbia killed with the second barrel. This left Redwood aud Dobble to fire, and they decided to divide, Redwood taking LGS and Dobbio Lso. Oowio killed all his birds, but was disqualified for putting his hat over one flattering. Ia firing off the ties for third prize, Mason and Hill each scored nine oonsecutlve kills, Mbboq killed tho tenth bird, and winning the prize (L 10). Messrs Hill, Knight, Lunn, Whittle, Wilson and Gowie eaoh took L 3 3;. In the handioap sweep of one guinea each, birds, R. J. Mason (Yaldharat) took the first prizj of L2O; J. Djnou (Ashbnrton) and A. Wolvln (Kaikoura) divided tho sscond and third, L 4 each. There wore 28 entries.
